Juliann's Kickoff SpeechGood morning my fellow Americans. My name is Juliann Snyder and I will be running to be your president of this great nation. Ever since I was a young child, I've aspired to be president. And with hard work, and dedication, I am proud to stand before you all today to share my goals and wishes for this country. I attended Oxford University alongside my running mate Seamus Kirby and I have served as a senator for the great state of New York for 6 years. I've worked in politics for many years now and I will strive to use my new and groundbreaking ideas to propel this country forward into one of prosperity.
Abraham Lincoln once said, “You have to do your own growing no matter how tall your grandfather was.” I believe this statement holds a significant amount of truth and pertains to this election immensely. In other words, this means, no matter what actions, events and or history we have together as a country regarding the past, our own genesis as a whole begins TODAY. For instance, ISIS, the radical group based in Iraq and Syria. With their recent actions, they are a tremendous threat to the nation, they’re expanding vastly over social media, which has caused great trauma in the past, but can lead to an even greater disservice towards the general public in the future. Evidently there are serious challenges we see in combating these radicalists. These challenges include money, sympathizers and the ability to stop the spread of their ideology. This controlling idea is vital to us, and change is imperative. So what are we going to do? *pause* We need to cut off their oil supply, this is a key component in their economy, contributing to THE two million dollars they are acquiring each day. We need to increase the number of airstrikes that the Obama Administration has already put into place to put an emphasis on our aggression and level of severity. We will restrict the weapons we are sending to Iraqi civilians; ISIS is constantly confiscating these weapons and killing our OWN civilians with our OWN weapons. Finally, it is fundamental that we acquire and work with allies and the Iraqi government to contain ISIS. Strength in numbers is essential in this scenario. Ultimately, the lives of Americans are our number one focus while our next greatest concern is to bring down the influence ISIS possesses. Another main problem this nation is faced with is our current education system. Every twenty six seconds a student drops out every day and fails to complete high school. In the United States, twenty five percent do not graduate from high school. Though, I am proud to say that each year that percentage does go down, but it is not enough. We need to change the way people view education. We are ranked some of the lowest in the world in subjects such as mathematics and science. In this nation, I believe there should be a strong emphasis on preparing students for life after school seeing that these will be the key leaders of our nation for the future. We must redirect education to teach students to tackle and solve key problems as well as to learn and have fun in a productive way. We plan to equip students with the tools needed to live a successful life which will provide incentive to do well in school. With mentoring groups and other added support groups, we plan to teach students good work ethic despite location. Areas that are stricken with poverty are known to have a lower graduation rate. By using the new ways mentioned, we can increase graduation in these areas and these students can pay it forward by taking what they’ve learned and turn it into someone postive and beneficial for others of their community. Also in times like these, affording a college education can be difficult for some families. That is why we propose a more affordable college plan, by providing more room for financial aid to those who need. As well as taking out loans that will be easier to pay off. Lastly, one of the biggest concerns to us as American’s is the current state of the economy. The secret’s out, we’re almost seventeen million dollars in debt. Unfortunately, there is no clear and direct way to eliminate this debt, and that’s just the truth; however, there are minor actions that we can take in order to start making our way out of this hole we’re in. We believe the first step i s to lessen this federal deficit. This is feasible by eliminating a number of different organizations that are not critical at this time, starting with the NIH, Amtrak, and NASA. These acts will simply reduce costs without eliminating many pros. We need to not only facilitate those blue collar American’s who work for the union or participate in acts of labor everyday, but also those with a college education, experience and more, who are all out of work. With that being said, we plan to tax every working American who currently receives a paycheck an extra fifteen cents. That is roughly, an extra one billion dollars that us American’s can use to help fund large scale companies like IBM, JP Morgan and companies of that caliber. This can enable these companies to create more jobs and internships for those in need of them. With these new jobs, it will increase spending and ultimately stimulate economic growth and development. This country is an amazing one. And as your president I vow that I will do whatever is necessary to show how great we are as a nation. Through all the hardships we’ve overcome and it only makes us stronger. These issues are not permanent, and together, we can change them. This is our home. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, I work and live for this country.. And I hope to lead this great nation into the bright future it so rightfully deserves. Thank you |
Vice President Seamus Kirby's Speech |
Good morning my fellow Americans, My name is Seamus Kirby and I am running alongside Juliann Snyder for the presidential office of the United States. I will be running for Vice president of this noble country. I received my education from the great University of Oxford in Great Britain. Currently I hold a seat in Congress as Senator of California. This has helped me to become acclimated on how politics work and obtain the knowledge on how to get things done efficiently. As the Vice Presidential candidate alongside my running mate Julian Snyder, I believe I possess the necessary character traits that will help lead the United States to a brighter future.
One of my best qualities is my work ethic. I will work tirelessly to make this country better. Having come back from multiple sports related injuries and working hard to get back on the playing field, I know there is nothing that will stop me from achieving my goals. My athletic career has played a substantial role in who I have become today. Baseball and basketball have taught me to be a team leader and hard worker. My ability to keep my composure when others don't is a trait I feel will help me when I'm in office. When times get tough and decisions need to be made, I won’t be afraid to make those tough decisions. I will be able to remain level headed under pressure. I have many political role models that I have studied and learned from but the former politician that I would like to emulate the most is Franklin Delano Roosevelt. His actions shaped our nation after a time of great despair. Specifically, President Roosevelt helped this country regain its strength after The Great Depression and merger of 1929. When times were tough, he created millions of jobs through the work of the New Deal, a set of federal programs that were designed to combat a national adversity. In relation to our current economic status, we can use some of his ways to restore the economy and ultimately lessen this deficit. Mr Roosevelt is a huge inspiration to me because I also plan on stimulating this nation's workforce and strengthening the economy. My goal is getting this country back to where it was when we were one of the worlds strongest powers. There is a great quote from President Roosevelt that I read each night before I go to sleep that I would like to share with you, “We have always held to the hope, the belief, the conviction that there is a better life, a better world, beyond the horizon.” With our administration that better life for this country is more attainable than ever. President Snyder and I plan on improving the standard of living for our citizens and stabilizing the economy in which they live. Every morning I wake up with the mind set that nothing will stop me from achieving my goals, and I can promise you that I will bring that mentality each and everyday as your vice president. |
